Let’s be realistic. You can’t master medical sciences or the piano in a short period of time. You need years of practice to become good at it. You can’t wake up one day and all of a sudden become successful and rich. You need to invest time, money and effort to get where you want to be. Today I want to discuss with you 10 steps to become closer to your goals.

1. Be aware of the latest trends and innovations

You should never miss out on the opportunities which are out there for you and everyone else. Learn new skills, adapt to changes and technological advances, feel the trends and stay up to date about the latest innovations and trends. Never be afraid of a change. You’ll either grow or learn from it. Both scenarios are positive experiences. You should understand what is going on in your field and get to know influencers. Reading and talking to smart people will help you make new conclusions and come up with new ideas!

2. Ask ‘stupid’ questions

If you want to achieve a different result, you need to take a different action. Untypical or ‘stupid’ questions can lead you to uncommon solutions and extraordinary results. Without those questions, things like iPods, McDonald’s and instant printing would have never come into our lives.

3. Know yourself and your skills

Always focus on what you’re good at, and no one will ever notice your weaknesses. Remember one simple rule: spend 80% of your time and effort on mastering your strengths, and only 20% on improving your shortcomings.

4. Never stop learning

Personal development is something that should be a part of your daily life. Reading books and online magazines, listening to podcasts, taking part in conferences, trainings and courses (offline and online), meeting new people and expanding your network – this all is worth finding time for and doing, if you want to become an expert in your field.

5. Take care of your health

Most of the time we take our health and ‘good condition’ for granted. And only when we feel sick, we suddenly realize how grateful we would have been just to feel normal again. That’s why you should be proactive and take care of yourself. By this I mean sleeping and eating well, exercising, taking days off from work, meditating, spending some time far away from the nosy city and negative people and simply having some mental rest.

6. Trying something new

Having a diverse experience will help you open your mind, learn new things and stay creative. I’m not talking about doing drugs here. Instead, I encourage you to travel, meet new people and show interest in something that exists outside your comfort zone.

7. Don’t feel low

You should train insistence and conviction in yourself. Focus on the results, and don’t be afraid of any challenges and troubles. They will always be in your life. I know that ‘it’s easier said than done’ but you know how important it is for becoming better and stronger. Drooping is not an option.

8. Learn new technologies

Technology has a huge impact on business today. Learn how new technologies can help you grow your business or hire a specialist who can do it for you. Never miss out on the latest trends and opportunities! It’s the 21st century after all!

9. Find your niche

Think about what is not good/advanced or simple/easy enough around you and analyze your skills that might help you solve the existing problem. If you feel like there is not enough information out there, or a decent solution/product or good customer-oriented service – go for it!

10. Follow the smell of money

Your work should bring benefits into other people’s lives. And hard work always pays off. If you have a feeling that your idea can help you raise some money – don’t wait up! Money is one of the strongest motivators nowadays, and there’s nothing wrong about it.

Remember one thing: there is nothing more important for your business than a good story. A story that can take doubts away, juice other people up and motivate them to take an action and make a change in their lives.
